You Can’t Reason with Unreasonable People
The Archangels Tell Us to Separate a Person’s Worth from Their Opinions
Since I’ve written a few articles connected to politics and the upcoming election, there have been a few people who have disagreed with my decidedly anti-extremist views. That’s okay. At the end of the day, we can all agree to disagree. For the most part, people have been respectful, which I very much appreciate. It’s easy to be respectful to people who are respectful to us, right?
So many of us just can’t understand how the opposition can continue to support a candidate who is so obviously ____________. If you’re siding with the right wing, the blank would be filled in with something like “a candidate who is obviously in cognitive decline.” If you’re siding with the left wing, it would be something like “a convicted criminal and liar.” For the most part, I don’t know very many people nor have I heard from many people who strongly believe their candidate is what our country needs. More likely, they’re supporting the candidate they think will cause the least amount of harm; in other words, the least bad candidate.
This is a fear-based decision and more of an ultimatum, a lesser of two evils, than a confident choice. There is a decidedly limited number of options. There are also some obnoxious folks who…
