Too Many Labels!
I’ve never been a fan of labels. When I was a teacher, I hated how labels for my students affected them and some of the other teachers. Judgments were made before introductions about people based on whatever label they carried.
The Angels say we complicate things by our need to label them, and then there are the different definitions and viewpoints about each label … we create our own chaos a lot of times. Misunderstandings abound, and there is so little room for acceptance and differences.
Am I awakened? Or am I woke? Maybe spiritual? You know what? I’m just me. What you see is what you get. Take me or leave me, it doesn’t matter. I’m true to myself, as everyone should be true to themselves. I don’t allow others to shape me. I’m my own person, and frankly, I like who I am, whether other people like me or not, and I hope you feel that way, too.
I often read on Medium in the mornings, especially on Sunday, and several articles in today, it hit me how many labels were placed on so many people. In one article and its comments, all of the following labels were applied: Democrats, Republicans, spiritual, right wing, left wing, religious, woke, awakened, Independent, stupid, idiot, liberal, conservative, Christian, Jew, woo-woo, good Christian, the right, the left, GOP, Trump supporter, woke left…
