Why Do So Many Hate the Jews?
The Archangels Discuss Antisemitism and Hate Crimes
There’s been an overall rise in hate crimes over the last few years. I’ve never understood hating someone you don’t even know, for whatever reason, but however wrong that is and however erroneous the idea behind it, I can usually figure out where it started and why. Not so with antisemitism. What did the Jewish people ever do that led to them being targeted throughout history all the way to today? I understand the conflicts in the Middle East have been around for ages, and I don’t pretend to understand the complexities of that kind of hate. I’m sure there is right and wrong on both sides, and I hope and pray for peace over there. But, what about Jewish people who don’t live in the Middle East who have been the targets of hate before Israel even existed?
These things bother me. Whatever reason people have used to persecute others is obviously wrong, ignorant, and often based on fear, but when I looked up persecution against Jews, I couldn’t find an explanation for it. I found several histories and ridiculous accusations that led to their persecution, but looking back from ancient times to modern day, they just didn’t make sense, and many of them even contradicted themselves.
