When Someone You Love is Dying: Update

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying life. I’ve tried to add a little levity in past updates regarding my mother-in-law, and it hasn’t been forced at all, because we always have so much fun together, and we love each other a whole lot. Although there won’t be much levity in this update, I don’t want it to sound too somber, either. I started sharing this journey with all of you in hopes that it would inspire some and comfort others, and I hope that’s what has happened. I hope you’ve been able to laugh along with us, as well as not be as fearful of the end of this life on Earth, knowing this is just our temporary home. Our main home is not on Earth. It’s elsewhere, where there is no pain or fear. Only love.

Before I get into the latest, I want to thank so many of you for the comments you’ve sent through this process. I’ve shared them all with Mildred, and although she thinks I exaggerate her greatness, she’s enjoyed them and found comfort and joy in them, so thank you.

The latest CT scan was very good, in that the cancer is still in check. It hasn’t grown or spread at all. However, this new chemotherapy, however well it’s worked on the cancer, has weakened Mom to the point that she’s unlikely to be able to continue with it. At this point, we kind of think she’s likely to finish up before the cancer has time to spread again. We always knew there…
