An Update on my Mother-in-law

There have been a lot of articles lately regarding whether or not you can make any money writing on Medium. There was a time when the money was decent, but for me at least, those days seem to be over, although money is not the reason I started writing here. I started writing here, because I love to write and I had some messages I wanted to share. The reason I’ve stayed so long, even after the money became non-existent, has to do with the people I’ve met and the followers I’ve gathered.

I’ve made friends here, and although we’ve never actually met in person, many of you have become important. Your comments keep me going, they fill me with joy and purpose, and I haven’t wanted to give that up, so I’m still here. You also support me and give me strength at times. One example of this is when you ask after my mother-in-law, Mildred. I began writing about my mother-in-law shortly after she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer two years ago.

If you haven’t read past articles about Mom, let me fill you in. She turned 95 years old in July, she’s been living with stage four breast cancer for the last two years, the last year without any treatment.
