Two Alternatives to New Year’s Resolutions
Self-reflection and Reevaluation Included
I haven’t done New Year’s resolutions for several years now, because frankly and for me at least, they’re not very effective. I’d rather spend some time in reflection of the past year and reassess what’s working for me and what’s not working, and adjust accordingly.
I’ve come up with a couple of ideas I think I’ll try out this coming year. The first is kind of like setting resolutions, but I think it’s more self-reflective and insightful. The second is a quick and simple, daily accounting and review that I think will help with grounding and focus. Both have aspects of self-care, although they’re very broad in terms of how you want to apply them. Self-care, according to the Archangels, should be everyone’s focus and priority right now and into the next years. I’ve included notes and my responses in parenthesis and italics, respectfully.
Consider asking yourself the following questions while reflecting on the past year:
1. What is one thing in my life that I’d like to get rid of or leave behind? How can I make this happen? (This could be less of some kind of activity, emotion, stress, negative thinking, etc. I would like to get rid of the aggravation and impatience I have with politicians and religious extremists and replace it…
