Today’s Miracle
I remember talking to my mother when I was little about miracles. I asked her if she believed in miracles, and she answered, “Honey, every time a baby is born, that’s a miracle.” I am overcome with joy today. My grandson, Nicholas Jorge was born this morning around 12:45. He weighed in at 7 lb, 4 oz, and I am not exaggerating (or the least bit biased) when I tell you he is beautiful and so very precious. He has dark hair, he’s very healthy, and when he’s awake, he looks all around him, taking it all in, checking out his parents and his surroundings. We call him Jorgie.
I have to agree with my mother, that babies are miracles, not to mention blessings. Have you ever really thought about it? A couple of cells getting together, multiplying, and eventually growing into a little person.
Our bodies are miracles. We have been blessed with this life and given the opportunity to grow and learn, help others, and make the world better. I can’t wait to see what my grandson does with his life. It’s going to be great.
My mother-in-law shares my joy and thinks it’s quite fitting that as she nears the end of her life, my grandson is just beginning his. She says it speaks of balance, and I agree. It’s a kind of passing of the torch, don’t you think? She’s done her best while here, and she’s done a great job. Now she’s tired, and ready to go home, leaving the future in the hands of…
