Enough of the Lies about the LEGAL Haitian Immigrants
I remember listening to an exceptionally great high school history teacher once who was sharing with the group why his students enjoyed his classes so much, when history was usually considered a drag. He explained that, if you approached history with a focus on dates and events, you’d already lost the class before it started, but if you approached it from the angle that history was about people, and found ways to connect the people of history to the students of today, they generally listened with more attention and interest, because, hey, we’re all people, right?
After reading a Haitian immigrant mother’s personal account of how things have escalated since Trump and Vance have doubled down on their false claims about illegal, Haitian immigrant running away with people’s pets, so they could eat them, I went from extremely aggravated to downright angry. I already saw the Haitians as human beings, but after reading the personal account, they became more clearly people, just like everyone else.
