The Ordeal of Having an Estate Sale

Part Two: The Overwhelm

I write for lots of reasons, whether it’s for informational purposes, to pass on messages and information, for a release of sorts, to complain, to comfort, and other things. I wrote the first article on having an estate sale last week more as a way to release and share feelings, and I was pleasantly surprised at all the comments and emails I received saying it was good information they could really use, so what started out to be a two-part article is now a three part article.

Part two was intended to be an after the sale update on how everything went, but as so many of you talked about either needing to do the same thing or having survived the ordeal, I decided to write an in between article and share some of the emotions I’ve experienced going through it. The sale is this weekend, so part three will cover the outcome. Stay tuned next week!

Physically, it’s been a bear! I had to single handedly go through every room, closet, drawer, box, garage, nook and cranny and decide what to sell and what to keep when I move to my new, much smaller home next year. This placed a lot of physical strain on my body, especially my back, which is a problem area if I’m not careful on a good day! Know what else hurt? Everything! But especially my joints and my feet.
