Thanks for this, Eric. It’s not surprising the book’s narrow minded focus didn’t include information from trans folks, science, or any other area that doesn’t fit nicely within the perimeters he set. Some people are only interested in information that supports their point of view. Plus, talking to trans people might even have made them more human, rather than statistical outsiders more easily persecuted. It’s sad that individualism is so often cast in a dark light, but it’s understandable when it comes to people who find it too hard and scary to think for themselves and so much easier to follow the crowd. People are people with fewer differences than similarities. Evangelical Christians are free to practice their religion and believe whatever they want, choosing to live their lives in the way they see fit, and I have a really hard time understanding why they can’t just let others do the same thing. 🙄
