Thanks for this , as it came at a time when I’m facing my own dilemma before launching my own site. I’ve been approached by companies that want to place ads on my site, and, like you, I hated the idea of interfering with the readers’ experience. At the same time, I’m looking for some way to offset the expenses. My friend suggested a Kofi option for donations, which I’m going to try out. It’s very discreet, no pressure, just an option to support the site. I may launch at the end of the week, and I’ll let you know how it goes. On the one hand, I hate asking anyone for money, but on the other, I’m going to need ongoing help to keep the site running and current, and being a retired teacher, not to mention a major cut in pay on Medium, I’m hoping this is a solution.
