Takeaways from Kamala Harris’ First Campaign Speech
Three Areas that Resonated with Me
I know I’ve written a lot of political articles lately, and as always, I’ll admit that this is not my area of expertise, but like most people these days, I’m keeping a reluctant eye on the political scene out of concern. Since Biden pulled out of the race last weekend, despite lots of talk, it looks likely for Kamala Harris to become the Democratic nominee. I’m pretty neutral about Harris, because I don’t really know a lot about her or what she’s accomplished since she’s served as VP, so I was curious about her first speech/rally in Milwaukee, WI.
We haven’t heard much about Harris, or at least, I haven’t. Obviously, that’s changed overnight. I find it pretty impressive that she broke all records for campaign contributions in a 24 hour period, though, and I have to say, after hearing her speech, I gained quite a bit of respect for her. I liked a lot of what she had to say.
She Didn’t Mince Words
The first thing I liked was how she compared her own reputation to that of Trump. She phrased it in a way that compared her work as California DA and Attorney General to the work that Trump has been doing. She brought up some of the people she’d prosecuted, including predators who sexually abused women, people who…
