Rising Above Corruption and Frustration
The Archangels Offer Guidance
My son asked me the other day if I’d ever heard of “quiet quitting.” I hadn’t, so he explained that it’s the latest phenomenon hitting the workforce, that people are so disgusted with how they are treated by management and companies they work for, they do the bare minimum and refuse to do anything more than they absolutely have to in order to keep their jobs, until they can find another one to take its place.
My first thought was, what about taking pride in your work? My reputation while I was part of the workforce was that, if I was a part of something, it was going to be done well. Then, he explained what a messy cycle people are stuck in these days. Companies hire inexperienced workers, so they can pay them less, even as they demand more from them.
In the past, a few businesses could retain their employees not because of the salary they paid, but because there were other perks and good benefits. Nowadays, the benefits and hours are lousy, there are no more retirement plans businesses contribute to, and after the initial push to impress, when employees see they can’t get ahead, they are so frustrated and overwhelmed, they withdraw any extra effort they’d put in, and they quietly quit, even though they are technically still employed. What a rat race.
