The Archangels Discuss Beauty

Getting older really doesn’t bother me, for the most part. Do I miss being young and beautiful? On the odd occasion, I suppose, but it was fun while it lasted. I’ll leave that fun to the younger generations. Enjoy! These days, I see the beauty inside me, the beauty in my heart and purpose, the beauty in the world, and the beauty in others, including my 93 year old mother-in-law and my four month old granddaughter.

We have a warped history regarding societal views on beauty, and unfortunately, there are a lot of people who have suffered because they didn’t think they met that beauty standard. Just look at all the booming beauty industries! Makeup, plastic surgery, salons, and a million products that guarantee you’ll look like a million dollars if you buy them. I don’t say this in judgment, mind you. I wear makeup, I dye my hair, and if there was something other than surgery that would remove the bags under my eyes, I’d definitely look into it. As long as your identity and self-esteem are not solely focused on your beauty, go for it.

I’m treated very differently now than I was when I was younger, sometimes better, sometimes worse, depending on the circumstances. I’d hate to have to find a job outside my home these days. As I turn 60 in January, I doubt I’d stand much of a chance against younger…
