Really good. People think of poetry as all flowers and rainbows, but this is a thinking piece. I had to let it percolate a bit.

It’s hard to switch off the things that bombard me, such as what’s going on in Gaza, and look at it analytically, in response to your request, but I tried. For me, it’s spotlighting repeated mistakes we make in search for balance and peace of mind. Humanity looks in all the wrong places to find answers to life, generation after generation. Considering the title, it’s also a warning to stop looking to others for these things and take an internal dive, looking within for answers and truth. Water is a basic need for survival. It’s simple, tasteless, colorless, and necessary to live. Sometimes, simple is best. We make too much of little things and forget about the big things. Life, happiness, the big things, can’t be bought or found outside yourself. You have to seek them from within first.

Very thought provoking. Thanks.
