Pity Parties Shouldn’t Last Longer than a Day or Two
Get Up, Dust Off, and Move On!
Yesterday, I was so disappointed in the election results. I didn’t feel like channeling or writing, but I made myself do those things, because I could feel the heaviness in the air, and I wanted to help. I wrote Moving Beyond the Elections and I got some great feedback from people who felt better after reading it, which made me feel better.
Determined to remain positive, I woke up early and pulled up my news app, read the headlines, and quickly closed it down. Oh. My. God. Finger pointing everywhere, dire predictions up the wazoo, and picture after picture showing Kamala looking defeated and dejected, and Trump looking smug and triumphant. All I could think of was, “This is not helping!”
Headlines blamed Black men, White women, Hispanics, White men, young voters, and a variety of individuals and groups for Harris’s loss. Her campaign people dropped the ball, the Democrats didn’t support her enough, Biden’s policies ruined her chances, the wars in progress submarined her. The article that really gave me pause, however, and that I found so upsetting was the headline to the effect that someone who’d wanted Harris to win hoped and wished that every Trump supporter never found peace.
