The Archangels Tell Us the Do’s and Don’ts

You know, I’m all about personal rights, and I take exception to anyone who wants to mess with mine. I’m way past the time when I would have to make a choice on whether or not to have an abortion, but the idea that other people think they should be able to make that choice for me really aggravates me.

I read an article a while back on Medium by a man who proclaimed that his rights were being violated, because public schools didn’t include the Bible’s story of creation, Christian prayer during school hours, and children were being subjected and exposed to the kinds of people he believed to be unsuitable. I had to wonder what he would think if the Hindu story of creation was mandated in public schools, along with Hindu prayers during school hours, and Christian kids and teachers were unwelcome in school.

He just couldn’t see another point of view other than his own, and he used the Bible as “proof” that he was right. He tried to justify his view by saying the Constitution allows for freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. I doubt he would accept the same argument if he was mandated to observe another religion’s practices.

There’s a lot of talk about personal rights and freedoms in the US, but again, people can’t see the irony or hypocrisy of things like…
