“Judge Not …”
Lessons of Humility are Always the Most Humiliating.
Some people just love to judge, don’t they? This is something I’ve strived not to do most of my life, yet there are times when I catch myself doing it, anyway. To a certain extent, it’s human nature, and to a certain extent, it’s required when choosing your values, beliefs, and actions, but we need to be careful. It’s one thing to judge someone’s actions and another to judge that person.
The fact is, we never know what led people to make the choices they’ve made. We haven’t walked in their shoes, we haven’t experienced life through their lenses, and we don’t know anything about what they’ve been through, and that’s something we should all keep in mind. It’s so easy, as well as ignorant, to say, “I’d never do that,” when you’ve never been in that position, and don’t kid yourself, you have never been in their position, even if it seems as though you have. You don’t know what kind of background or support someone has, what kind of hardships they might face if they choose differently, or what’s happened, is happening, or will happen before, during, and after they make a choice of which others may disapprove.
Yet, there are people who seem to live to judge and persecute others harshly and believe they have that right. Everyone slips into judgement from time to time, but some people…
