Jacquelyn, you make some great points, and I agree with a lot of what you said. There are good and bad in any group, whether religious, racial, or occupational. I love and follow Jesus, but I left Christianity because it’s widely believed that you can only be given access to Heaven if you’re a Christian. That’s as opposite from what Jesus taught as you can get. Jesus loves everyone and doesn’t care about which religion you practice.
A church is as good as the people in it. There are lots of good Christians and churches, as there are Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, etc. They have holy books and beliefs, also, and whether or not they know Jesus, as long as they follow the same teachings, leading lives of loving kindness, what does it matter if they worship differently? We were all created by the same God who is represented in many ways.
Christianity is a beautiful religion, as are others. The trick is to find the one that brings you peace, joy, and comfort and inspires you to be kind, loving, and nonjudgmental of others. I’m guessing you have found that in your church, and I’m happy for you.
Blessings, Jodie
