If the purpose is educational, and if it’s presented without bias, such as a compare and contrast of world religions while studying different countries and cultures or if it’s a world religions class, that’s informational and instructional, that’s what’s supposed to happen in school, right? But to promote any particular religion over others is to favor it, and that is not instructional, nor is it acceptable, especially for anyone who is not part of that religion. It causes discomfort and unease, and it makes a statement that one religion - the one being featured - is better than others, therefore the people who practice it are better, and those who don’t, are less than. Even if all religions are featured, what about the kids who are members of families with atheists? Religion does not belong in public schools.
