I think you can hope for accountability for his actions while at the same time finding compassion for him having dementia, if he does. While his actions deserve to be reprimanded, and he would deserve whatever penalties he’s brought on himself because of them, no one deserves such an illness. He may have jail time coming to him and other penalties, but having watched several relatives die from Alzheimer’s, I don’t think anyone deserves to suffer that way.
