I had to smile throughout! You forgot the part about sometimes not remembering students’ names after teaching so long! I went from the new, cool teacher to the older, nurturing teacher. The first time I felt like an old teacher was when my students were talking about “the oldies “ and asked me if I liked that music. I thought they were referring to the 50’s and 60’s but they were talking 70’s and 80’s, the music of my teens and twenties! A sad, sad day. You’re going to love retirement!
