I had a similar epiphany over twenty years ago when I saw a photographic display of Tibetan monks and nuns who spent the rest of their lives praying for their Chinese torturers. I thought, there’s no way these people are going to hell because they worship differently.
That was the beginning of the end for me and traditional religion. The God I know loves everyone and favors no religion over another. To each there own. Nobody has the right to force their views on others, much less judge and condemn them, regardless of intention. I’m sorry the man died, but I don’t blame the people who killed him.
