How is Trump the Christian Candidate?

I Don’t Understand Evangelical Support for Someone Who is Obviously the Antithesis of Christian Values

Four years ago, when Trump was running for President for the second time, and the first time he ran for office, he was considered by many to be the Christians’ candidate. I’ve been told that Evangelical churches and ministers were even fined for trying to persuade their congregation members to vote for him, which is illegal. This time around, we’re beginning to see a turnaround, though. Petitions and statements have been signed by many Christians who are taking a stand against Trump, saying he does not exemplify Christian values. Whole websites have been constructed to support withdrawal of Christian support. Still, there are a good many Evangelicals who still claim him as their political savior.

The Bible is supposed to be the basis for Christian beliefs, specifically the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament, and in the New Testament, the teachings of Jesus. Let’s take a look at how Trump measures up in these two areas. The purpose of this article is not to judge and condemn Trump or his followers, and I’m not talking about the people who will vote for Trump for political reasons.
