Hi, Tom. I agree with pretty much everything you said, and I think love and caring is absolutely needed for change. The Angels say that when we see ourselves and the people we love in the faces of all others, the world will change, because there will be unity.
The equality they talk about is the realization that everyone is of equal value, because we are all humans. I agree love and caring are key, not just for some, but for all. Before that happens, before we address others suffering, we need to realize that all people are deserving simply because they are humans.
The world right now is based on hierarchy. Remember the song by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fortunate Son? It was about the sons of politicians who avoided being drafted to war, because of their family status, their place in the hierarchy, while men lower on the totem pole were sent. They weren’t considered as valuable as the protected sons. Taking it further, the people they were going to fight against were not of equal importance. They were the bad guys. Everyone the US has ever fought were the bad guys. Their lives were not as valued as ours.
The US has intervened to protect some people, but not all. The genocide in Africa or in other “poor” places were ignored, because the people involved were not considered as important, because they had nothing to benefit the country like the Middle East with its oil. There won’t be any more wars when the thought of anyone dying becomes a price that’s too high to pay. Yes, caring and loving are crucial, and we have to learn that everyone is deserving of it. Not just the easy people to love, but the people we don’t particularly like, because we are all equally deserving of that love and caring, not because of who we are, what we have, or what we do, but because we are all human.
Didn’t mean to get so long winded! For myself, I can honestly say I don’t hate anyone or wish anyone harm, but my goal is to be able to say I love everyone, even the people who don’t seem to love anyone more than they love themselves. Even those who cause harm. Even those who hate me. I’m not there yet, but I’m working on it. We’re all working on evolving. Blessings.
