Hey, Joel. I agree, you can’t reason with unreasonable people. It never occurred to me that the folks who were part of the riot would read my article; they were never my target audience. If the fallout of their actions doesn’t reach them, it’s highly unlikely any of my words would resonate.

The purpose of the article was to appeal to the people who were not involved in the riot. My hope is that people will think twice before reacting violently out of fear or anger and hopefully avoid situations where they can potentially get caught up in the mob mentality.

Lastly, I wished to provide some hope and encouragement to others that, even though we’re likely to face some chaotic times ahead, they’ll eventually lead to positive changes, and there are better, more effective ways to bring about change without resorting to violence.
