Do the Ten Commandments Need an Update?
The Archangels Share the History of God’s Laws
A good friend of mine asked me about the Ten Commandments recently and whether or not the Archangels would agree they needed an update. Who uses the word, “covet” anymore, anyway? I agreed to ask the Archangels about this, as well as the history surrounding them. I mean, I still picture Charlton Heston talking to the burning bush as they’re divinely printed on the stone tablets he shares with the people. I wondered if it really happened like that, and I was fascinated by their answer, which follows.
Question: Do you think the Ten Commandments should be modernized in some ways, and did God give them to Moses just like it says in the Bible?
Answer:
The Ten Commandments were given to Moses by God, but they were not written by his hand on stone tablets, ready to go, and Moses took a little poetic license when he passed them on, not for selfish reasons, but because he interpreted them based on his background and understanding of the Hebrew God he knew.
