Conspiracy Theories
An Opinion
Are you as sick of hearing about conspiracy theories as I am? I know someone who considers the idea that the FBI provided the Uvalde shooter with the money to buy the assault weapons he used to kill twenty-one people, mostly children, worthy of belief. He thinks it was a ploy for the government (specifically the Democrats) to gain more control and power.
That’s not the first conspiracy he’s shared with me. In fact, he’s known for saying that a conspiracy theory is only a theory until it’s been proven. This is someone I’ve known and considered a friend for decades. He’s a good, if gullible, person. I’m not going to end a friendship over a difference of opinions, and I’m not going to launch into a debate (at least, not very often) when I know neither of us will change the other’s mind, but I really have to wonder how he can give credence to such things.
I was thrilled to hear that Fox News paid a fortune in damages to Dominion for knowingly lying about the presidential election. I don’t say that with malice against Fox, but in vindication for Dominion. Fox lied outright about many things regarding the election, presenting them as factual, and purposely misled people. They should be held accountable, and I’m glad the truth of what they did has come to light. Maybe people will think twice before believing them after this. I hope so.
