Children Are Less Likely to Hate Now
The Archangels Explain Why
Perhaps you caught my recent article about whether or not the Middle East will ever be at peace and if antisemitism will ever stop. I channeled that information at the request of a reader who lives in Israel and has never known long-standing peace in her country. We talked back and forth for a while, and I told her I didn’t understand why people around the world have persecuted Jews for so long. She said one reason was because her people believed they were God’s chosen people, although she disagreed with that ideology, wondering if people would hate them less if they didn’t continue to say that.
I immediately thought of some misguided Christians who believe the same thing. It didn’t really answer my question about why people hated Jews to such an extent, since Christians have the same belief, but now that there is this movement of Christian nationalism, I thought maybe that’s why there is more persecution and unacceptance of Christians, too. Two thirds of the world’s population are non-Christian. When you have Christians announcing that everyone else is bound for hell, because they worship differently, or trying to pass laws that force people to follow their belief system, it’s no wonder there is a rise in anti-Christian sentiment.
