The Archangels’ Commentary on the Book of Job
The Book of Job has always bothered me, even as a kid. I don’t think I’m the only one, either. How could a loving God condone the treatment given to Job by the devil simply to show what a faithful servant Job was to Him? For me, there were no big surprises in the Archangels’ commentary, but I’ll let you judge that for yourself.
Question: Would you please comment on the Book of Job from the Bible?

The reason the book of Job in the Bible bothers many people is because in their hearts, they cannot reconcile the God they know with the god portrayed in the story. And a story is exactly what it is, by the way. It was a fictional account of a man tortured by the devil — who incidentally does not exist — that was inspired by the Greek and Roman myths of how their gods toyed with mortals.
It was written by men who were trying to make certain points. First, they wanted to compare their god to the Greek and Roman gods, showing that their god, while allowing the devil to manipulate and harm Job, would not do those things himself, as the Greek and Roman gods did, that he valued human beings much more.
