As several other comments point out, other countries have all of these problems. They also have gun control laws. What they don’t have is the problem with gun violence that’s so common in the US. All the problems you bring up are valid problems. I don’t know if these mass murderers were bullied with or without social media, I don’t know if they came from broken homes, had/used cell phones, or if they were victims of societal problems. This is what I do know: the shooter in Uvalde legally bought two assault rifles on his 18th birthday and killed 19 kids and two adults days later. If he had not had such easy access to those guns, they would not have killed all those innocent people. Whether or not he would’ve found another way to kill or whether or not he would’ve gotten the help he needed if the age requirement was 21 both go under the unknown column, but the fact remains, if he hadn’t been able to access those guns, he would not have killed those people when he did.
I have no problem with responsible gun owners having guns for recreation or protection, but when an 18 year old can’t legally buy himself a beer for safety reasons for himself and others, I cannot fathom why anyone thinks it’s okay to let him buy a gun, any kind of gun. Nobody is talking about taking guns away from citizens or revoking the 2nd amendment. If that was the case, I could at least understand why people are against gun control laws, but putting common sense, responsible, protective laws in place is not only logical, it’s necessary. Further, responding to gun violence by talking about other problems is a diversion tactic that many people are no longer willing to believe, accept, or be manipulated.
