Another great article, Dan. The job of a church is to support, not control its congregation. It’s abuses like this that give religion a bad name, and this stuff is rampant!

Years ago when more people than not were illiterate, they had to take the church workers’ word for it when it came to the Bible and its interpretation. What I don’t understand is why people are still willing to accept that.

And I agree; every time I’ve questioned my faith, it’s become stronger.

Lastly, when people malign others, I find that they are usually the ones hiding something. I hope your wife’s friend put that preacher in his place when he had the audacity to try to pick her friends for her!
